The Deoghar and Basukinath 2-day pilgrimage package from Ranchi covers 630 km, includes Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga darshan, Naulakha Mandir, Tapovan and Basukinath Dham, and starts at ₹8,499 for a sedan carrying four passengers, all-inclusive of fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance.
Baba Baidyanath Dham is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and by tradition the visit is incomplete without Basukinath, 45 km further on - Baidyanath is where you present the plea, Basukinath is where it is answered. Trying to do both from Ranchi in a single day means twelve hours of driving around a darshan queue you cannot control. Two days makes it a pilgrimage instead of an endurance test, and it puts darshan on the evening of day one, when the queue is at its shortest.

Ranchi → Deoghar, evening darshan (252 km)
Pickup at 05:30, breakfast on the short road via Gola and Dumri, reach Deoghar by about 12:00. Check in and rest through the afternoon heat. Baidyanath Dham darshan at the evening reopening, which is when the queue is shortest, then Naulakha Mandir 1.5 km away. Leave phones and bags in the car - neither is allowed inside the temple. Overnight in Deoghar.

Tapovan → Basukinath → Ranchi
Early morning second darshan if you want it, then Tapovan caves and the Shivganga tank. Drive to Basukinath Dham - 45 km on NH-114A, and the road is being four-laned, so allow a little over the hour it should take - for darshan around midday, then the return to Ranchi. Drop by 21:00.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the darshan queue at Baidyanath Dham?
Outside Shravan, the Baidyanath Dham darshan queue runs 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the day, with evenings shorter than mornings. During Shravan month in July and August it can exceed 6 hours. This is the main reason our package puts darshan on the evening of day 1 rather than on arrival.
Is the Deoghar trip suitable for elderly parents?
Yes, with two adjustments we make by default on request: an Innova Crysta rather than a sedan, for the seat height and suspension over six hours, and a schedule that puts the long drive in the morning and rest in the afternoon. Note that Trikut and Tapovan both involve real climbing - the Trikut ropeway has been shut since 2022 - so we leave them out of an itinerary for elderly parents and keep the walking to the temple complex itself.
Is the Trikut ropeway working, and is it part of this package?
No on both counts. The Trikut Parvat ropeway has been closed since the accident of 10 April 2022, was still closed through 2026, and has no announced reopening date - the fares and timings you will find on the operator's own website are stale. Raahi Saarthi does not put it in an itinerary or take money for it. If you want the summit, it is a two-hour climb on stairs and trail, and we will drive you to the base and wait.
