Netarhat 2 Days / 1 Night - tour package from Ranchi

Starts in
Ranchi
Duration
2D/1N
Distance
430 km
Starts at
₹6,499
Best time to visit
October to March

The Netarhat 2-day tour package from Ranchi covers about 430 km with Lodh Falls (about 340 km without it), includes the Magnolia Point sunset, Sunrise Point and Lodh Falls, and starts at ₹6,499 for a sedan carrying four passengers, all-inclusive of fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance. Rooms are extra: government-run rooms in Netarhat cost ₹2,500-5,000 a night.

The one package we recommend above all others. Netarhat is the only true hill station in Jharkhand, and the whole point of it is a sunset at Magnolia Point and a sunrise the next morning - which a same-day trip physically cannot give you. Two days splits the 8-10 hours of round-trip driving so neither day is rushed, and puts Lodh Falls, the highest waterfall in the state, within reach on the return.

What this package covers

  • Sunset from Magnolia Point - the view Netarhat is best known for
  • Sunrise Point the next morning - about 30 minutes before sunrise, which is 05:50-06:37 from October to March
  • The forested climb from Bishunpur, 33 km, steepest over the last 15-20 km up the Banari ghat
  • Lodh Falls - about 143 m (468 ft), the highest in Jharkhand
  • Koel View Point and the Naspati Garden pine walks

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Netarhat tour package from Ranchi cost?

The Raahi Saarthi Netarhat 2-day package starts at ₹6,499 for a sedan seating four, ₹8,499 for an Ertiga SUV seating six and ₹9,999 for an Innova Crysta seating seven. The price covers the cab, fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance for both days; your hotel and meals are separate, and government-run rooms in Netarhat cost ₹2,500-5,000 a night (JTDC Prabhat Vihar, Paryatan Vihar and the forest department cottage).

What is the best Netarhat tour plan for 2 days?

Leave Ranchi at 07:00 and reach Netarhat (156 km, 4-5 hours via Lohardaga and Bishunpur) around noon; spend the afternoon at Koel View Point and the pine forest, then watch the sunset at Magnolia Point, 10 km from town. On day two, walk to Sunrise Point about 30 minutes before sunrise (05:50-06:37 from October to March), drive to Lodh Falls (60 km via Mahuadanr) and go straight back to Ranchi on the lower road, arriving by about 19:00-19:30. The two days cover about 430 km with Lodh Falls, about 340 km without. Our Netarhat 2-day itinerary guide has the hour-by-hour plan with sunrise and sunset times for every month.

What is the Netarhat trip budget for 2 days?

About ₹11,400-15,500 for two people travelling by sedan, or roughly ₹5,700-7,750 each: the ₹6,499 Raahi Saarthi sedan package (cab, fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance), one government room at ₹2,500-5,000 a night, and about ₹600-1,000 per person per day for food (our estimate). A family of four in a sedan with two rooms spends about ₹16,300-24,500; the Ertiga package is ₹8,499 and the Innova Crysta ₹9,999. By bus the fare is only about ₹250 each way, but the one direct bus arrives after sunset and leaves before sunrise, so a bus trip needs two nights and a local taxi for Magnolia Point and Lodh Falls.

Which is the nearest railway station to Netarhat?

Netarhat has no railway station. The nearest by road is Latehar (LTHR), about 78 km away, then Lohardaga (LAD), about 84 km; the '33-34 km' figure seen online is the straight-line distance, not the road. In practice the railhead is Ranchi Junction, 154 km from Netarhat, where most visitors pick up a cab. MEMU trains run Ranchi to Lohardaga at 05:00, 08:55, 15:00 and 18:55 (about 1.5 hours), but you then need a local taxi for the last 84 km.

Can Netarhat be done in one day from Ranchi?

Technically yes, but we advise against it. A same-day Netarhat trip means nine hours of driving for two or three hours on the ground, and you will have to choose between the sunset and the sunrise - the two things people actually come to Netarhat for. If a single day is your only option, Patratu Valley at 40 km is the far better use of it.

Where should I stay in Netarhat?

Stay in one of Netarhat's three government-run properties, which cost ₹2,500-5,000 a night: JTDC Hotel Prabhat Vihar Deluxe (₹2,500-5,000, right beside Sunrise Point), JTDC Hotel Paryatan Vihar (₹2,500-3,000, on Lake Road) and the forest department's Netarhat New Cottage (₹2,500 including taxes, booked and prepaid at palamautigerreserve.in). There are also private homestays, but we could not verify their rates. JTDC's hotels are booked by phone, so book at least two weeks ahead for any weekend between October and February. Raahi Saarthi arranges the booking as part of the package on request.
