Deoghar Babadham Day Tour - tour package from Ranchi
The Ranchi to Deoghar day tour covers 545 km, gets you to Baba Baidyanath Dham for a late-morning darshan and back to Ranchi the same night, and starts at ₹6,499 for a sedan carrying four passengers, all-inclusive of fuel, tolls, parking and driver allowance.
For the people who cannot take a second day off. A 04:00 pickup puts you at the Baidyanath gate by about 10:00, which lands in the late-morning lull between the dawn rush and the afternoon closing - the best darshan window a same-day trip can reach. You get the main temple, Naulakha and the Shivganga tank, and you are home in Ranchi by about 22:00. What you do not get is Basukinath: it is 45 km the wrong way and the pilgrimage traditionally needs it, which is the one honest reason to consider the two-day package instead.
What this package covers
- Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga darshan in the late-morning lull
- Naulakha Mandir - 146 ft, 1.5 km from the main temple
- Shivganga tank - the traditional bathe before darshan
- Nandan Pahar, if the queue is kind and there is time before the drive back
- A peda stop on the way out of town - Deoghar's own, made with a tenth the sugar

Ranchi → Deoghar darshan → Ranchi (545 km)
Pickup from your Ranchi address at 04:00 - earlier than anyone enjoys, and the whole trip depends on it. Tea and breakfast on the short road via Gola and Dumri around 07:00. Reach Deoghar by about 10:00, park at the designated lot and walk in; phones and bags stay in the car because neither is allowed inside the temple. Darshan, then Naulakha Mandir and Shivganga. Lunch, a box of peda, and on the road back by 15:30. Drop at your Ranchi address by about 22:00.

Frequently asked questions
Can Deoghar really be done in one day from Ranchi?
Yes. Raahi Saarthi runs the Ranchi to Deoghar day tour as a fixed package from ₹6,499 for a sedan: 04:00 pickup, Baidyanath darshan around 10:00, back in Ranchi by about 22:00. It is roughly eleven hours in the car for four or five hours on the ground, and it drops Basukinath entirely. If those two things are acceptable, the day trip works; if they are not, the 2-day package at ₹8,499 is the one to book.
What time should we leave Ranchi to reach Baidyanath for darshan?
Leave Ranchi at 04:00. The drive is 252 km on the short road via Gola, Dumri and Giridih (the Hazaribagh-Bagodar road is about 278 km) and five and a half to six and a half hours with a breakfast stop, which puts you at the temple around 10:00 - inside the late-morning lull, after the dawn rush and before the mid-afternoon closing. A 06:00 departure lands you at midday against the closing, and a 08:00 departure does not work at all on a same-day trip.
How long is the darshan queue at Baidyanath Dham on a normal day?
Outside Shravan the Baidyanath queue usually clears in 45 minutes to 2 hours, shortest at the 04:00 opening and after the evening reopening. There is no published waiting time, so anyone quoting you an exact number is guessing. Raahi Saarthi does not bill waiting time on this package, so a long queue costs you the day, not money. During Shravan the queue is a different order of thing - four to eight hours, and up to ten kilometres on a Shravan Monday.
Can we take our phones inside the Baidyanath temple?
No. Mobile phones and bags are barred inside the Baidyanath temple premises and must be left at a designated deposit point. The simplest thing is to leave them locked in the cab - your driver stays with the vehicle - and carry only what you are offering. Budget fifteen minutes for this before you join the queue.
Is there a VIP or fast-track darshan at Baidyanath, and can you book it?
There is a Shighra Darshanam coupon, sold offline only at the temple administrative office. On normal days the counter opens at 08:00 (06:00 only on special days such as 1 January), and the coupon cost ₹300 per person on a normal day in 2025 and ₹600 on New Year and other special days - check at the counter, because the rate gets revised and sales are sometimes paused for a few hours in heavy crowds. Raahi Saarthi does not sell it, cannot pre-book it and will not take money for it - there is no verified official online booking, and every site claiming to sell one should be treated with suspicion. Your driver will point you at the right counter. During Shravani Mela 2026 the coupons were suspended on Sundays and Mondays and all out-of-turn VIP darshan was abolished outright.
